With ViA15, Rijkswaterstaat is improving traffic flow in the province of Gelderland, in the east of the Netherlands. The project includes the construction of a new 12‑kilometre motorway (A15) between Bemmel and Oudbroeken, as well as widening sections of the existing A12 and A15. A 2.5‑kilometre bridge will also be built over the Pannerdensch Canal, alongside a parallel cycling route.
By extending the A15 to connect with the A12, and widening both routes in key sections, accessibility in the Arnhem–Nijmegen region will improve significantly, creating a direct corridor between the Port of Rotterdam and Germany.
The GelreGroen consortium – BESIX, Dura Vermeer, HOCHTIEF, Van Oor and John Laing – is responsible for the design, construction, financing, and 20‑year operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.
BESIX Invest, the investment arm of BESIX Group, played a crucial role in structuring the project financing. The consortium leveraged BESIX Invest’s extensive experience with DBFM (Design, Build, Finance & Maintenance) contracts, supported by a strong network of lenders and advisors. BESIX Invest also acts as a shareholder in the project.
Preparatory works began in autumn, including utility diversions, soil investigations and site set‑up. Early 2026 will see construction of the site access road, followed by the main works. The route is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2031.
